Why a Postcard?
Direct mailing postcard marketing is one of a most powerful
marketing tools. They are inexpensive to mail and, because there
is no envelope to open, people read your postcard right away.
for
example:
you decide to go into the tanning business in Ft. lauderdale, you're
on a "shoestring" budget and are not sure how to best
promote your Grand Opening. What are your options? You could use
local cable TV, radio, or newspaper advertising. That's what the
other tanning salon owners do. If not careful, these options can
rapidly waste much of your promotional dollars by pouring your information
on people who aren't qualified prospects. Local businesses such
as tanning salons, dry cleaners, gift shops, restaurants, dentists,
and chiropractors, usually get their customers, patients and clients
from a 5-mile radius. That's their market, your best bet is to send
a few thousand postcards your most likely customers, people who
live near bye.

1. Mailing
List- target your audience Your
best audience happens to be the people or businesses that have already
purchased from you. Now they know that you've got a good product
or service and perhaps they need 'more' of whatever you've got.
Remind them by mailing to them monthly which takes all the work
out of staying in touch with your customer base. If it's lead generation
you seek, you need to properly identify your audience. Is it consumers?
Or do you sell to other businesses?
Consumers
- What kind
of consumer do you sell to? Let's narrow this down. For example:
women aged 25-45 who make an annual salary of $40,000 or more
and own their own home.
- Do they live
in a certain area? A
good way to figure this out, if you're not sure, is to go through
your invoices, find your best customers and then survey them to
find out all about them…
- How old are
they?
- Where do
they live?
- What is their
annual income?
- Do they own
their own home or do they rent?
You may want
to survey as many as 100 of your customers in order to see the most
common denominators. For instance, you may find that their incomes
vary but they all fall between ages 25 and 45 or that they're all
married or most are married. Get the picture? Let's find out exactly
whom you're already selling to and then we'll find you a list of
similar prospects to promote to!
Businesses
- What type
of business do you sell to? New businesses that just leased a
new space? Or is it a particular SIC code (SIC stands for Standard
Industry Classification; all businesses are assigned a universal
code that identifies exactly what they do). Maybe you sell software
to manufacturers. We can get you a list of manufacturers in a
particular area and we can even narrow it down further. What precisely
do most of your customer's manufacture? Furniture? Helicopters?
Jewelry? We
suggest that you go through your invoices, find your best customers
and then survey them to find out all about them…
- How large
of a company are they?
- How many
employees do they have?
- How long
have they been in business?
We can even
help you with this part. Give us your 5 best customers and we'll
tell you what their SIC code is, what their gross volume is and
how many employees they have. Then we can look for similar companies
and you will be marketing to a better audience, a more likely to
purchase audience! Call your sales rep. All our sales reps are very
knowledgeable in this area and can help you a great deal. We want
you to get the best possible results from your mailing and whom
you mail to is of major importance!

2. Design & Copy Writing
We will personally interview you to understand what you want
your card to communicate, then use our direct marketing expertise
to create copy that makes people take action. You have your choice
of images for your card: we can scan your images, pull from our vast
image library or even take a custom digital image for you to create
your memorable postcard. How
to write your postcard:
Postcards have an address side and a "billboard" side
where your ad message goes. Start with a headline that states your
main benefit. Follow that with a sub-heading. It is a sentence or
two with more words that support your headline. Below your sub-heading,
use bullets to list the features of your product or service. Relate
each of the features to the benefit it provides. Also, include ways
to easily contact and buy from you. Many postcards include a "nudge."
Next to your order information, give customers a time limit. Let
them know how long the offer lasts or when they have to buy to get
a special price. The
address side of your postcard should have a phrase in bold that
makes people want to turn the card over. A question works well.
